Project Description

Glass Inspection System is a software suite designed for the visual dimensional and cosmetic inspection of open containers coming from a glass tube or from moulded glass, such as vials, syringes, ampoules and bottles.

GIS is designed for direct integration on production lines of transparent or semi-transparent glass containers, but can also be implemented downstream the washing and drying stage of container manufacturing.

GIS stations allow the detection of cosmetic or functional defects such as cracks, bubbles or stains in the glass, and perform dimensional controls to identify mismatches on any area of the container, eg. measurement of threads or planarity of container mouth. Dedicated modules can inspect glass thickness and other properties.

The system efficiently identifies cracks of 0.2 mm minimum size or bubbles of 0.5 mm2 size; accuracy of dimensional inline inspection can reach 0.5 mm with production throughput up to 30 thousand pieces per hour.

GIS inspection reporting outputs are transmitted to the upstream forming equipment, in order to optimize production parameters.

The Antares Vision Glass Inspection System suite does not require setup by the operator, being based on self-learning algorithms; operation is managed through pre-set recipes, allowing quick and efficient format change.
